Job description

North Christian School is accepting applications for a lead preschool teaching position for our three year old classroom. We are looking for educators who share an unwavering commitment to student achievement and an appreciation and respect for a Christian worldview and values.

Must pass a background check and other training as needed to be successful.

Lead Preschool Teacher

1. Accountability Objectives: A preschool teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional environment for the students in the classroom using Christ-based curriculum. The teacher must be strong in Christian faith and prayerfully direct the preschool classroom to help students learn life skills, good attitudes and strong Christian principles that contribute to their overall character.

2. Position Characteristics

a. Salary: Discussed upon hire

b. Length of Contract: 200 days

c. Reports to Principal

3. Job Qualifications

a. Must Possess: high school diploma and experience working with preschool children.

Preferred associates degree with an emphasis in early elementary education

Bachelor’s a plus for future growth

b. Special Requirements: Excellent writing and speaking skills, outstanding organizational and planning abilities, strong ability to work effectively with individuals and groups. Great understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for preschool children. Skilled in developing and delivering interactive learning programs designed to engage and educate young children.

4. Job Responsibilities

a. Agrees with NPBC’s Statement of Faith.

b. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the school.

c. Maintains high standards of classroom behavior.

d. Emphasis will be given to teaching from the Christian perspective.

e. Evaluates student progress objectively and fairly on a regular basis.

f. Strives to implement by action and instruction the importance of the school’s mission, vision, and purpose with specific attention provided for individual differences in learning style.

g. Enforces the rules and regulations in and out of their classroom environment to all students, parents, and staff without showing favoritism.

h. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes outside the instructional day, when required or requested to so under reasonable terms.

i. Report all incidents, accidents and/or conflicts to the principal in a timely fashion.

j. Provides for professional growth through participation in an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at an institution of higher learning.

k. Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.

l. Attend monthly staff meetings.

m. Must be willing to work with others by collaborating with principal, teachers, staff, and parents to build a stronger foundation for our school by communicating regularly.

n. Keep the school clean and safe for all students, parents, and staff.

o. Always demonstrate a Christian attitude with the public, Church family, and co-workers.

p. Teachers are expected to attend after school functions that support the school and students.

q. Be responsible with assigned job duties.

r. Read, understand, and honor the Staff Handbook and everything it entails.

s. Demonstrate Biblical Principles by modeling the Fruits of the Spirit and making choices that reflect your faith.

t. Use Restorative Discipline (Matthew 18) as a model inside and outside the classroom for your own conflicts as well as teaching the students to do the same.

u. Have the desire for spiritual growth by attending church regularly, praying faithfully and committing to obey Christ, our Savior.

v. Understand the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality in the operation of the school and classroom.

w. Support all teachers by representing the school in a positive manner that is professional and favorable to all. Serve as a positive role model to all staff and families through the demonstration of good Christian Principles.

x. Be transparent and up front with everyone, instead of gossiping, go to the source and take care of any issues or resolve any conflicts with others right away.

y. Perform all other duties as needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
